New Y&F Spokester named
CUs can still get in on Y&F NM
New Mexico’s credit unions have a new Spokester who will use social media, videos, 
blogging and humor to promote the state’s credit unions to young adults. Anthony Almanzar was chosen from a group of 12 candidates who applied for the position as the Young & Free New Mexico voice for young adults ages 18 to 25 and will drive the famous purple car around the state to spread the credit union message. He will also receive a Mac laptop, video camera, and iPhone.
The Young & Free program was developed by Currency Marketing in Canada. Several states now have the program and spokesters.
The Credit Union Association of New Mexico, which spearheads the program, surprised Anthony A., as he is known, with the news that he had won the competition on a local morning radio show last week where he was appearing to tout his gig as a comedian. He shared the stage later that week with nationally known comedians for The Latin Comedy Jam in Albuquerque.
He’s currently a senior at the University of New Mexico studying broadcast journalism and will graduate next year. Anthony A. is a also a music video producer.
“My biggest goal in life is to sell out the Pit as a comedian,” he said, referring to the University of New Mexico’s basketball arena.
